I believe the holiday season is the best time to visit Walt Disney World. As long as you don’t go over the actual holiday itself you can enjoy cooler temperatures, smaller crowds and a lower priced vacation.
Thanksgiving week is traditionally very crowded and so is the week of Christmas and the week between Christmas and New Year. Pretty much any time the kids are off school, the crowds are higher and airline flights are usually higher then also.
I’ve been to Disney the week before Thanksgiving and it was like having the park to ourselves! I’ve also gone in early December and crowds were not bad then either.
Most of Disney’s promotions have blackout dates over the holiday weeks so you’ll not only face bigger crowds but you won’t get the best deal. Dollar for dollar I think the free dining is still the best deal Disney offers. If you add that to great airfare prices, you can have yourself a very affordable Disney vacation. I recently found airfare for well under $200 per person on nonstop flights. Add that to free dining and you have a vacation for 4 for under $3,000.
So if you have flexibility with your vacation, chances are you’ll get the best deal out there during the holiday season.
